Gennadiy Rozlach kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. A collision led to LIVERPOOL getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Jeremie Thielemans hit a great ball. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Uruguay! In the 24th minute there was a penalty for LIVERPOOL. Fernando Salvino stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Joaquin Gayoso. 0-2. Bogdan Puchkov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Maximiliano Escribano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Maximiliano Escribano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Walmyr Rossi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Francisco Seco's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Walmyr Rossi skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximiliano Escribano got free with Walmyr Rossi in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Walmyr Rossi made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bogdan Puchkov in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bogdan Puchkov in the 47th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Bogdan Puchkov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 57 in the game by Bogdan Puchkov from a close distance when the talented Joaquin Gayoso managed to make a qualified save. Uruguay's players were relieved. Bogdan Puchkov struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for LIVERPOOL. The supporters of LIVERPOOL booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sainz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francisco Seco's late challenge caught a LIVERPOOL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francisco Seco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 64th minute, Francisco Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by Uruguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fernando Salvino was slow to take the kick. During this time LIVERPOOL's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on LIVERPOOL's corner Fernando Salvino fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Joaquin Gayoso quite easily take care of the ball. Francisco Seco struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Walmyr Rossi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. After 82 played minutes LIVERPOOL got a freekick which was hit by Vladyslav Yarovenko. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Bogdan Puchkov tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 93 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Covarrubias. After recieving a nice pass, LIVERPOOL's Fernando Salvino tried to score from far away in the 94th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 96th match minute, LIVERPOOL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gennadiy Rozlach to maneuver through the defense. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. LIVERPOOL walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
