Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Daniel Zorita made the kick off and thus started the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Celtic FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isidoro Lugo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 3rd minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastián Junes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Celtic FC's Sebastián Junes. Sebastián Junes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 11th minute Isidoro Lugo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. In the 17th match minute, Celtic FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oscar Udalaitz to maneuver through the defense. Sebastián Junes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 27th minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. After 34 played minutes, Celtic FC's Ted Ambjörnsson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Celtic FC reached it. In the 38th minute, Isidoro Lugo made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After 43 played minutes Celtic FC got a freekick which was hit by Isidoro Lugo. 46 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicolas Froila. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Isidoro Lugo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Lugo in the 54th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Udalaitz in the 57th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Celtic FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 61 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. In the 63rd minute, Isidoro Lugo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sebastián Junes came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Dionisio Barea was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 72 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sebastián Junes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Daniel Zorita in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Sebastián Junes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 81st play minutes Nicolas Froila shot 2-3, a short shot which went by Julio Vera and just under the crossbar into goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Nicolas Froila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Nicolas Froila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Froila in the 88th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolas Froila, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd match minute, Celtic FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aldo Quintin to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador played a much better game than Celtic FC and deserved their victory. The Celtic FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
