The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. After 22 minutes, Hugo Ferrant mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the AnkaraGücü SK players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of AnkaraGücü SK booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Ferrant didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mustafa Haydar Saygur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juan Rubio during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 25th minute. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. After 29 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. After 29 minutes of play, AnkaraGücü SK's Mircea Berceanu made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mustafa Haydar Saygur recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of AnkaraGücü SK booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 42nd minute, Kutlay Adem hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Mircea Berceanu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 44 minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mircea Berceanu to make the kick off. Mircea Berceanu scored 4-0 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ahmet Seyfi İldemir's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Tasis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Edward Gecionis made a huge save. 56 minutes into the game, Mircea Berceanu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mircea Berceanu in the 65th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes into the game, Eliseo Noboa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AnkaraGücü SK the free kick. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Berceanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edward Gecionis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. 77 minutes into the match, Mircea Berceanu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mircea Berceanu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. If Kutlay Adem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mircea Berceanu in the 84th minute of play. 蔡锋卫 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kutlay Adem in the 89th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
