Matungo Gaúcho's Gilmar Borges was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Thiago Pliego in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When %teams%'s Josué Pinheiro was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 2-0 just inside the left pole, 25 minutes into the game. Thiago Pliego was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Josué Pinheiro in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thiago Pliego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 44th minute, Orlando Casaus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mariano Lacasa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Matungo Gaúcho's goalkeeper Ademir Baptista had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. When Mariano Lacasa got free in front of the goal in the 56th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Ademir Baptista was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Orlando Casaus managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Orlando Casaus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ademir Baptista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josué Pinheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Josué Pinheiro in the 66th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A nice corner shot did that Gilmar Borges got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Thiago Pliego quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcinho Sena, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Mariano Lacasa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ademir Baptista came out and tried to block the shot, but Mariano Lacasa slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 76th minute. A collision led to Chile getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Gerardo Pozo hit a great ball. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josué Pinheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Josué Pinheiro in the 81st minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Gilmar Borges came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 86th minute, Marcinho Sena left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Matungo Gaúcho fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. The supporters of Chile booed when Matungo Gaúcho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diego Baresi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Henk van Putten made in the 93rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Marcinho Sena. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilmar Borges in the 94th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 97th minute of the match Gilmar Borges shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thiago Pliego showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Matungo Gaúcho's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
