Teodoro Peio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santino Seco in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute Axel Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teodoro Peio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Alberto Azevedo got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pedro Manzanares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Baldomero Rodas's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Azevedo in the 53rd minute of the match. After having played for 71 minutes, Abram Sarmiento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Colombia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abram Sarmiento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. Pedro Manzanares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Primitivo Mendez, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 79th match minute, Atlético Nacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nemesio Damario to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Colombia had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
