After 33 played minutes The Swedish Nightmare got a freekick which was hit by Ture Ahlstedt. Mexico's Luca Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edgar Åström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Edgar Åström acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 53rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Joel Gaona. After a defensive mix-up in The Swedish Nightmare's zone, Alberto Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar Åström came out of the goal and Alberto Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorginho Meirelles in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Lacasa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edgar Åström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 86th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Edgar Åström successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 93 minutes into the game, Marcin Zajac was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Swedish Nightmare's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. Mexico made a substitution. Jonathan Atenas replaced Macos Graciani. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
