Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Gaona to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Chris Draxl in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nereo Rik in the 53rd minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Chris Draxl successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 57 minutes had been played when some careless play by SK Fenerbahce Wien's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. In the 59th minute, Nereo Rik got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brecht Govaerts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Chris Draxl made a huge save. With a little luck, SK Fenerbahce Wien's Chris Draxl got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chris Draxl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 84th minute of play. A collision led to SK Fenerbahce Wien getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Roland-Nicolas Hertz hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nereo Rik in the 95th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
