The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Triunvirato FC defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Artemio Lamberto. The Triunvirato FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Artemio Lamberto should have stopped the shot. Adolfo Mendez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 8 played minutes Triunvirato FC got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Gombal. The corner ended in Juan Sebastián Puig almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Triunvirato FC's Artemio Lamberto did a great save. In the 28th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artemio Lamberto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 29 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. After a defensive mix-up in Triunvirato FC's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artemio Lamberto came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 37th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artemio Lamberto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 42nd minute of play forced Triunvirato FC's goalkeeper Artemio Lamberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Artemio Lamberto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of the match. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 47 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Artemio Lamberto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. The Triunvirato FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Triunvirato FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Uriel Rios to maneuver through the defense. Triunvirato FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 57th minute, when Cristian Sancho scored to the left of an out of position Artemio Lamberto, making the score, 0-5. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Gombal in the 59th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victorio Gora in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute Triunvirato FC were awarded a corner. Adolfo Mendez went to the cornerflag to take it. Triunvirato FC's Adolfo Mendez was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Adolfo Mendez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Artemio Lamberto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eulalio Gil in the 69th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 72nd minute of the match, Cristian Sancho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Artemio Lamberto saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Triunvirato FC made a substitution. Armando Donostia replaced Miguel Gombal. After 74 minutes Triunvirato FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Artemio Lamberto in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho scored 0-6 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artemio Lamberto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 85th minute, Triunvirato FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Triunvirato FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artemio Lamberto came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adolfo Mendez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ecuador played a much better game than Triunvirato FC and deserved their victory. The Triunvirato FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
