Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Virgil Oargă made a throw-in in the 15th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Stiinta-Univ. defense, Milagros Fraga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Martin Crețu. The Stiinta-Univ. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martin Crețu should have stopped the shot. When Peru's Julian Murillo in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. It was Virgil Oargă who took care of the corner kick. 46 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Martin Crețu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Julian Murillo made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luz Tejedor got free with Martin Crețu in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stiinta-Univ.'s Martin Crețu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 68th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Stiinta-Univ.'s Șerban Rușanu got a free kick in the 69th minute. With a little luck, Stiinta-Univ.'s Martin Crețu got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 82nd minute Valeriu Morovan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. The supporters of Peru booed when Stiinta-Univ. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafael Gallo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Martin Crețu came out and tried to block the shot, but Rafael Gallo slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 92nd minute. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valeriu Morovan in the 95th minute of the match. Peru's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
