After having played for 46 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. After having played for 50 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by ᴀɴᴛɪᴏᴄʜᴠs ғ•ᴄ's Faruk Ankara. But to his dismay, Faruk Ankara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. When Patricio Costa came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patricio Costa couldn't finish the play. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bahadırhan Demiroğlu having to interfere. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Faruk Ankara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
