An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 4th minute of play forced General Velásquez's goalkeeper Henry Tucknott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Renato Goycolea hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Henry Tucknott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of the match. After 24 minutes, Renato Goycolea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the General Velásquez and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 37th match minute, General Velásquez was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renato Goycolea to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Henry Tucknott made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Henry Tucknott could save by the left post. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Henry Tucknott to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a little luck, General Velásquez's Henry Tucknott got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. General Velásquez made a substitution. Teofan Bozadzhiyski replaced Marciano Gibson. After 65 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. After 68 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Anselmo Johans who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Johny De Raeijmaecker got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. General Velásquez's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Anselmo Johans in the 73rd minute. Daniel Zorita kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 77thth minute. Though ot was a great shot General Velásquez's keeper Henry Tucknott was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Martin Švácha kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Henry Tucknott made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Clemente Tuñon struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for General Velásquez. In the 92nd minute Guntademaro Goyenechea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, General Velásquez's Shi Fan Rong got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 94th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for General Velásquez. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
