The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Tineretul Arad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Graur didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tineretul Arad's goalkeeper Daniel Anton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Tineretul Arad booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Alcocer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute, Cazimir Maior made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 20th minute of play forced Tineretul Arad's goalkeeper Daniel Anton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Tineretul Arad's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Puig came free, but Daniel Anton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Anton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Puig, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Costa Rica's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Emilian Blăniță 32 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Felix Negrescu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 36 minute of play, and Emilian Blăniță capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Emilian Blăniță really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. Cazimir Maior blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. In the 48th minute, Gerson Guimarães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The wind increased when Felix Negrescu made the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilian Blăniță, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute Felix Negrescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aaron Alcocer hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. When Robert Graur fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tineretul Arad's protests and gave Robert Graur a yellow card for diving instead. In the 77th minute, Robert Graur hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the game, Denis Mănescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tineretul Arad's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. After 79 played minutes Tineretul Arad got a freekick which was hit by Denis Mănescu. Costa Rica's Axel Tasis couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 79th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Tineretul Arad. In the 84th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. After 85 minutes, Axel Tasis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Tineretul Arad players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emilian Blăniță in the 87th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
