The crowd rose to their feet as Rómulo Ventura kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving William Kenworthy. That made the score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. Jacinto Cross sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Apolo Larrañaga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. William Kenworthy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the game, Apolo Larrañaga cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Tanio Lezaeta scored 5-0 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of William Kenworthy, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Talcampeón FC's Tanio Lezaeta got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 45 minutes, Apolo Larrañaga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Talcampeón FC and the Carlisle United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 45 played minutes Talcampeón FC got a freekick which was hit by Apolo Larrañaga. In the 46th minute of the match Jo Higson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Alberto Villa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ian Bastow to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Apolo Larrañaga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. William Kenworthy was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. After 55 played minutes Talcampeón FC got a freekick which was hit by Tito Waiben. William Kenworthy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adolfo Halat, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. When Talcampeón FC's Adolfo Halat in 76 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. William Kenworthy guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Tanio Lezaeta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Kenworthy having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Carlisle United's zone, Jacinto Cross stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. In the 88th minute Damario Ferrada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Kenworthy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Carlisle United's goal looked a bit too open when Adolfo Halat came free, but William Kenworthy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tanio Lezaeta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Talcampeón FC fully deserved thier win.
