Boyd Winkler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 13th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 15th match minute, Pueblo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerry Franco to maneuver through the defense. 19 minutes into the match, Pueblo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Boyd Winkler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Pueblo FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Vern Wright received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Vern Wright slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 22nd minute. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Vern Wright sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerry Franco in the 38th minute of play. In the 39th minute Ari Willingham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vern Wrights short, quick shot in the 41stth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Vern Wright sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after Pueblo FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Pueblo FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Cristian Sancho fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 56th minute, Jaime McClendon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pueblo FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. 59 minutes into the match, Jaime McClendon notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Vern Wright managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pueblo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vern Wright was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 71st minute of the match, Luis Andino tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Boyd Winkler saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vern Wright, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tyrell Houser was slow to take the kick. During this time Pueblo FC's players had a chance to rest. In the 79th minute, Vern Wright made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Vern Wright's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Boyd Winkler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Primitivo Andino's late challenge caught a Pueblo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Primitivo Andino helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Pueblo FC a penalty, 96 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tyrell Houser, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. 5-2. The Pueblo FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
