Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 3rd play minutes Daniel Zorita shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Fonso Zotillo and just under the crossbar into goal. Fonso Zotillo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 6th minute of play. Fonso Zotillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fonso Zotillo having to interfere. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fábio Montoia's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fonso Zotillo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. In the 31st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fonso Zotillo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to XV de Piracicaba getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Yuri Tasso hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the match, XV de Piracicaba's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Fonso Zotillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, XV de Piracicaba's Hernani Nunes got a free kick in the 37th minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fonso Zotillo. Fonso Zotillo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Severino Capixaba kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Fonso Zotillo made a huge save. Fábio Montoia hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Antonio Arias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 65 played minutes XV de Piracicaba got a freekick which was hit by Yuri Tasso. Luis Andino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fonso Zotillo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luis Andino got free with Fonso Zotillo in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after XV de Piracicaba's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Juan Sebastián Puig got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Fonso Zotillo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Luis Andino's late challenge caught a XV de Piracicaba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luis Andino helped the player get up and apologised. After 75 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. 80 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fonso Zotillo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 84th minute after XV de Piracicaba's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Fonso Zotillo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 85th minute. Luis Andino might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fonso Zotillo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luis Andino ran back to his position shaking his head. 89 minutes into the match, XV de Piracicaba's goalkeeper Fonso Zotillo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. XV de Piracicaba's Fonso Zotillo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 93rd minute of play.
