Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 14 minutes into the match, Pankracy Malicki dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant, 2-0. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 16th minute of the game. One of Venezuela:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Newcastle United:s goal. The goalkeeper, Jonathan Ferrant, was totally fooled by Newcastle United's Zé Paulo Zonta, who 18 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Newcastle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Zonta didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Zé Paulo Zonta hit a great ball. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Newcastle United's Filip Orling was substituted for Julian Obuchowicz. Thomas Vollmar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thomas Vollmar kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Pankracy Malicki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pankracy Malicki in the 74th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Vollmar, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 78th minute, Pankracy Malicki left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Newcastle United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Thomas Vollmar might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thomas Vollmar ran back to his position shaking his head. Newcastle United's Zé Paulo Zonta was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Alex Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Zé Paulo Zonta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. There was no doubt that Newcastle United were the better team. Newcastle United's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
