In the 3rd match minute, Tamboril was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chicão Saldanha to maneuver through the defense. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Loïc Duprey blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. 6 minutes into the match, Waldir Cearense had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Waldir Cearense was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 8th minute of play forced Tamboril's goalkeeper Frank Netto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chicão Saldanha's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chicão Saldanha helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tamboril getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Chicão Saldanha hit a great ball. In the 17th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Tamboril's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Frank Netto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frank Netto having to make a save. Tamboril's Frank Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 29th minute of play. When Loïc Duprey came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Tamboril fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Loïc Duprey couldn't finish the play. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Loïc Duprey in the 36th minute of the match. Loïc Duprey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Alex Chicote's late challenge caught a Tamboril's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alex Chicote helped the player get up and apologised. Loïc Duprey placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! In the 72nd minute, Chicão Saldanha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 73rdth minute. Though ot was a great shot Tamboril's keeper Frank Netto was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frank Netto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. 77 minutes into the game, Waldir Cearense cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Tamboril's Frank Netto got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Loïc Duprey hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 91st minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Tamboril was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cleiton Dracena didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 98 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There was no doubt that Tamboril were the better team. Tamboril's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
