The audience was convinced that Peter Björkman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marco Day was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. André Nordmark showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cassius Byrne in the 16th minute of the match. After some careless play in the USA defense, Peter Björkman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marco Day. The USA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marco Day should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, USA's Marco Day got control of the ball when Alex Isaksson tried to sneak it across the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, USA's goalkeeper Marco Day had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Peter Björkman.
