Clemente Anaya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Mahir Sanak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of the match. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mahir Sanak. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clemente Anaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Mihai Ciorbea kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. When Clemente Anaya came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Fenerbahçe51 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Anaya couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Fenerbahçe51's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fenerbahçe51 succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
