With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Medero Nadal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Lastras in the 26th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Abel Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute of the match, Asier Canal got a very nice opportunity to score, but Benito Sanz was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Cipriano Lastras struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VALPICA C.F.. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Medero Nadal was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Medero Nadal in the 53rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. Jerico March charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jerico March the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for VALPICA C.F.! The goalkeeper, Rodrigo Ramos, was totally fooled by Costa Rica's Axel Tasis, who 59 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 62 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Medero Nadal came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Alan Moruga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VALPICA C.F. the free kick. Asier Canal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Medero Nadal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, VALPICA C.F.'s Cipriano Lastras got a free kick in the 84th minute. After a defensive mix-up in VALPICA C.F.'s zone, Axel Tasis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodrigo Ramos came out of the goal and Axel Tasis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Medero Nadal went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 2-2 became the score in the 91st minute when Quique Bacete elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Quique Bacete charged in rather forcefully in the 98th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Quique Bacete the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. VALPICA C.F. were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Costa Rica to leave the ground with a draw.
