The supporters of Colombia booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per-Åke Lundberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abram Sarmiento was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pascual Carballar to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute Pascual Carballar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Åke Källberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Axel Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 66 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Abram Sarmiento sped through Boca Juniors's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jens-Åke Källberg. Boca Juniors's Jan Höijer was substituted for Edvard Dusett. Boca Juniors's Harry Hedling was substituted for Dimitris Panagiotakis. Jens-Åke Källberg was out of position in the 71 minute of play, and Kevin Mastache capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kevin Mastache really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. After a defensive mix-up in Colombia's zone, Torgny Landin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Torgny Landin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Boca Juniors's Jens-Åke Källberg got control of the ball when Ignacio Mastache tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jens-Åke Källberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacio Mastache, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute.
