Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Torgny Landin sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Tejedor in the 9th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jens-Åke Källberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliseo Mina struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Jens-Åke Källberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. In the 13th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dimitris Panagiotakis to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Rolando Noboa managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Boca Juniors's Oscar Lindholm fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Boca Juniors's Jens-Åke Källberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 25th minute of play. Eliseo Mina blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jens-Åke Källberg having to make a save. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Lindholm in the 30th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edvard Dusett. 33 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Edvard Dusett came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jens-Åke Källberg came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Luz Tejedor. But to his dismay, Luz Tejedor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Peru booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dimitris Panagiotakis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jens-Åke Källberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Mina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 53rd minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jens-Åke Källberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Oscar Lindholm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Milagros Fraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens-Åke Källberg having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Torgny Landin came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Lindholm came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rickard Löfgren was slow to take the kick. During this time Boca Juniors's players had a chance to rest. In the 76thth minute of the game Torgny Landin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Höijer, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Rickard Löfgren got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. In the 83rd match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rickard Löfgren to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jens-Åke Källberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Anthony Alvarado got a throw-in 86 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Eliseo Alcocer. Antonio Tenorio succeeded in the game's 90th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-2. The Peru supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Peru would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
