The referee gave Forza Heppenbach a penalty, 45 minutes into the game. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Patricio Costa was the one to do the kick off. Stephan Appiah's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stephan Appiah helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Forza Heppenbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Michael Almqvist in the 91st minute of play. During the 94th minute of the match Genaro Maiorga completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Genaro Maiorga a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Forza Heppenbach's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
