Felix Martinsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 35th minute of the match Mihăiţă Cârstoiu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Antonio Arias charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Albert Rutledge stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Osvald Uter's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Felix Martinsson made a huge save. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Felix Martinsson came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristian Sancho slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 91st minute. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
