Fundação Marques dos Reis's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Wesly Goemyne in the 11th minute. If Juninho Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Taras Romanchuk succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 16th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Taras Romanchuk in the 47th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

A throw-in in the 50th minute of the game was made by Andreas Maxsø with Daniel Rodrigues as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. With a little luck, Fundação Marques dos Reis's Yao Bin Yun got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Fundação Marques dos Reis's Tiago Ferreira got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Alexandre Pacheco hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. In the 65th minute, Julian Murillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alonso Berganza made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that Fundação Marques dos Reis's Yao Bin Yun managed to reach the ball for a save. Andreas Maxsø got a throw-in 73 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Filipe Viveiros. Yao Bin Yun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Yao Bin Yun narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Yao Bin Yun was a little too slow when Julian Murillo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 3-2. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Fundação Marques dos Reis made a substitution. Daniel Resende replaced Juninho Pernambucano. Rafael Gallo took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yao Bin Yun. Yao Bin Yun dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. Despite being the better team, Peru failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
