If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Orvar Kihlman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Orvar Kihlman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 12thth minute of the game Orvar Kihlman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 17th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jairo Asteguieta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ingvar Brolin hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as BV Borussia Hammarby's Orvar Kihlman slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rolando Noboa. That made the score 1-0 after 25 minutes of play. After 28 played minutes BV Borussia Hammarby got a freekick which was hit by Sven-Olof Josefsson. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orvar Kihlman in the 34th minute of play. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jairo Asteguieta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. BV Borussia Hammarby's Jairo Asteguieta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Milagros Fraga in the 40th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, BV Borussia Hammarby's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Jairo Asteguieta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sven-Olof Josefsson hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 45th minute of play forced BV Borussia Hammarby's goalkeeper Jairo Asteguieta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Orvar Kihlman to strike the kick off in the second half. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orvar Kihlman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, BV Borussia Hammarby's Jairo Asteguieta got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, BV Borussia Hammarby's Orvar Kihlman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sonny Blom's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sonny Blom helped the player get up and apologised. After 68 played minutes BV Borussia Hammarby got a freekick which was hit by Sonny Blom. Julian Murillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Through an outstanding action, after 77 minutes, Jairo Asteguieta successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Jairo Asteguieta made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Milagros Fraga sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to BV Borussia Hammarby getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Ingvar Brolin hit a great ball. Jairo Asteguieta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute.
