Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Luis Sánchez in the 17th minute of play. José Luis Sánchez spun around in front of the goal 17 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Peru's goal. Ediberto Righi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 22 minutes into the game, Jorge Jiménez recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rolando Noboa. Jorge Jiménez showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 26thth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but lןןl La Coconeta's Ediberto Righi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 28th minute, lןןl La Coconeta's José Luis Sánchez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After a rather tough play, lןןl La Coconeta's Alexis Maldonado got a free kick in the 31st minute. 34 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jorge Jiménez. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Luis Sánchez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. lןןl La Coconeta's Ediberto Righi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 40th minute of play. When Jorge Jiménez came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the lןןl La Coconeta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Jiménez couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolás Domingo came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Peru booed when lןןl La Coconeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexis Maldonado didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind lןןl La Coconeta's goalkeeper Ediberto Righi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to lןןl La Coconeta getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Nicolás Domingo hit a great ball. Nicolás Domingo kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guido Alvarenga, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 64th minute, Alejandro Cabrera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Alvarenga in the 68th minute of play. lןןl La Coconeta's Josemir Lujambio was substituted for Ramiro Enrique. lןןl La Coconeta's Eliseo Mouriño was substituted for Javier Zanetti. The throw-in from Alexis Maldonado in the 71st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Josemir Lujambio in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Antonio Tenorio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Antonio Tenorio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ediberto Righi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ediberto Righi was a little too slow when Rafael Gallo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 2-1. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Rafael Gallo put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Ediberto Righi. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
