Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) FC Barcelona's Sydney Baiano started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vitório Goiano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. Vitório Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 5th minute of play. Berthold Wy kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vitório Goiano. FC Barcelona's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 23rd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. FC Barcelona's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play forced FC Barcelona's goalkeeper Vitório Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Vitório Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th match minute, FC Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Piet Feer to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Carlos Laderoute tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Barcelona's goalie prevented a goal. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Vitório Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vitório Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mario Vinciguerra's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mario Vinciguerra helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th minute, Mario Vinciguerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gavin Giacomozzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 47 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. When Mario Vinciguerra was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 51 minutes had been played. Mario Vinciguerra hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. The long shot by Daniel Zorita in the 53rd minute really tested Vitório Goiano's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. An unexpected shot in the 55th minute by Daniel Zorita got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save FC Barcelona from getting a goal against them. After 58 minutes, Gavin Giacomozzi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Barcelona and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FC Barcelona getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Gavin Giacomozzi hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vitório Goiano, 0-1. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Vitório Goiano made a huge save. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vitório Goiano made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. 70 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Barcelona's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The nice shot from Daniel Zorita in the 72ndth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Vitório Goiano had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. After 76 minutes FC Barcelona's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Francis Lehrer tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Vitório Goiano. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-2 in the 76th minute. Elroy Kolb kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitório Goiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sydney Baiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 86th minute of play. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Vitório Goiano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Ecuador played a much better game than FC Barcelona and deserved their victory. The FC Barcelona players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
