Denis Inestrosa hit a great ball. Marco Day was out of position in the 5 minute of play, and Edmund Lidberg capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edmund Lidberg really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Fernando Cardozo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfredo Aguilar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Mcdonald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Cardozo in the 13th minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zach Harrison in the 16th minute of play. Marco Day made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Fernando Cardozo sent off a good shot on target. A nice corner shot did that Fernando Cardozo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Marco Day quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Marco Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmund Lidberg in the 23rd minute of play. Alfredo Aguilar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute, Club Olimpia's Edmund Lidberg dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. 29 minutes into the match, Club Olimpia's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Mcdonald came free, but Alfredo Aguilar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfredo Aguilar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cassius Byrne's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Inestrosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 35th minute, Monty Rogers ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfredo Aguilar was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 38th minute of play. Alfredo Aguilar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Mcdonald in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roque Gora in the 45th minute of play forced USA's goalkeeper Marco Day to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Roque Gora notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of USA's Marco Day. Marco Day was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Club Olimpia from getting a goal against them. In the 53rd minute, Edward Mcdonald reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alfredo Aguilar. The goal made the score 3-2. 56 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Roque Gora came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Denis Inestrosa came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 59th minute of the match Club Olimpia got a corner. USA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Fernando Cardozo ran over to the corner to take the kick. At last the ball reached Denis Inestrosa at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of USA. 4-2. Club Olimpia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fernando Cardozo in the 63rd minute. The corner led Club Olimpia's Fernando Cardozo to fire away a dangerous shot which Marco Day despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. USA made a substitution. Sam Campbell replaced Cassius Byrne. USA were awarded a corner in the 70th minute after Club Olimpia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Monty Rogers took the corner. Denis Inestrosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Day having to interfere. Jenson Smith was slow to take the kick. During this time USA's players had a chance to rest. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sam Campbell got free with Alfredo Aguilar in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 93rd minute, Khalid Parry left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The USA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3.
