Georgi Velinov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmet Refik Ülgü in the 11th minute of play. Tanel Kiik made in the 13th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Todor Yanchev. Georgi Velinov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julian Murillo's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC CSKA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. FC CSKA's Georgi Velinov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 18th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Arnulfo Roderigo came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseo Mina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Georgi Velinov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute of the match Peru got a corner. FC CSKA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Ruslan Dzhalev sent off a good shot on target. Tanel Kiik made in the 37th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Todor Yanchev. Georgi Velinov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 39th minute of play. When Georgi Dimitrov came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the FC CSKA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Georgi Dimitrov couldn't finish the play. FC CSKA's Georgi Velinov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 44th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ahmet Refik Ülgü to make the kick off. Milagros Fraga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Georgi Velinov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 50th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnulfo Roderigo in the 70th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Todor Yanchev in the 77 minute of the game. If Ruslan Dzhalev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Ruslan Dzhalev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Ruslan Dzhalev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Many of Peru's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Peru may have spent more time on the ball, but FC CSKA were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
