Donato de Salles came free with the goalkeeper in the 14th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Rolando Noboa could save by the left post. Erik Skog was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rähim Sterling got free with Rolando Noboa in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Tejedor in the 32nd minute of play forced Garphyttan's goalkeeper Erik Skog to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 35 minutes of play, Peru's Eliseo Mina made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erik Skog was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 40th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Skog saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Garphyttan booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquin Prats didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erik Skog read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Rähim Sterling made the kick off in the second half. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Peru fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 66th minute. Penalty! Rolando Noboa had in the 68thth minute some difficulties stopping Michael Kvalfält's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 68th minute, Michael Kvalfält made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jörn Petersson, made in the 70th minute of the game. Garphyttan made a substitution. Jim Kellman replaced Michael Kvalfält. After 89 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Mina. Eliseo Alcocer was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 95th minute. Peru's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.
