In the 3rd minute, Edmundo Espiga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matt Hodgson in the 6th minute of the match. Edmundo Espiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, Edmundo Espiga left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Honduras fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Matt Hodgson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Lautaro Navarro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th match minute, União Desportiva Airão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademar Bulhosa to maneuver through the defense. Sebastian Villa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 31st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gualter Moutinho. União Desportiva Airão's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Edmundo Espiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Maia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A well done corner resulted in Zé Prata drilling the ball in to score 1-1 behind Honduras's goalkeeper. Leonardo Freitas was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 40 minutes into the match. A collision led to União Desportiva Airão getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Leonardo Freitas hit a great ball. Moises Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Gualter Moutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Honduras's Edmundo Espiga got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gualter Moutinho was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Espiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sebastian Villa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gualter Moutinho having to interfere. Edmundo Espiga took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gualter Moutinho. Gualter Moutinho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. União Desportiva Airão's Gualter Moutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Villa in the 87th minute of play. Honduras's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
