Despite this Haroldo de Sena quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Haroldo de Sena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute of the match. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Walmyr Proença tried to sneak it across the goal line. Haroldo de Sena came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Haroldo de Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 26th minute of play. Haroldo de Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Reko-Recko 03™'s zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haroldo de Sena came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo de Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Haroldo de Sena having to interfere. Haroldo de Sena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 44th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo de Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
The wind increased when Walmyr Proença made the kick off in the second half. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Haroldo de Sena made a huge save. Haroldo de Sena was out of position in the 82 minute of play, and Daniel Zorita capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Daniel Zorita really showed his touch with that goal: 0-7. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Haroldo de Sena made a huge save. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 88thth minute got Haroldo de Sena to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Haroldo de Sena having to interfere. In the 96th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. 97 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Tostão Arruda came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
