An unexpectedly hard shot by Túlio Maravilha in the 82nd minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Francisco Seco might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Francisco Borges. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Francisco Seco ran back to his position shaking his head. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Túlio Maravilha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
