Xavies Monterrey had in the 6thth minute some difficulties stopping Edmundo Espiga's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 9th match minute, NCA Defensor Mercenario was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baumar Almonte to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emiliano Arango in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lautaro Navarro saved Honduras from getting behind. Honduras's Moises Tafalla quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ereinotz Carulla, made in the 19th minute of the game. In the 20th minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xavies Monterrey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Honduras booed when NCA Defensor Mercenario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ereinotz Carulla didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ryan Tarulla got free with Lautaro Navarro in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Baumar Almonte kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. After 24 played minutes, Honduras's Edmundo Espiga shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Xavies Monterrey came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Honduras reached it. In the 32nd minute, Edmundo Espiga left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Honduras fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 37 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Esteban Carvallo. Lautaro Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ubelteso Celaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The throw-in from Shabeb Al Dowaisan in the 41st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Honduras's Esteban Carvallo. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edmundo Espiga made a kick off. After 52 played minutes NCA Defensor Mercenario got a freekick which was hit by Ospin Canonega. Ubelteso Celaya's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lautaro Navarro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. After 61 played minutes NCA Defensor Mercenario got a freekick which was hit by Baumar Almonte. In the 63rdth minute of the game Emiliano Arango who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Honduras's Lautaro Navarro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 64 played minutes NCA Defensor Mercenario got a freekick which was hit by Baumar Almonte. Xavies Monterrey was out of position in the 66 minute of play, and Edmundo Espiga capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edmundo Espiga really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. NCA Defensor Mercenario's Derwin Reynoso was substituted for Baumar Almonte. NCA Defensor Mercenario made a substitution. Bernad Anaya replaced Ubelteso Celaya. The throw-in from Shabeb Al Dowaisan in the 71st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Honduras's Esteban Carvallo. Honduras's attentive Christian Sancho managed to snatch the ball when Shabeb Al Dowaisan made a throw-in in the 73rd minute of the game. In the 81st minute, Derwin Reynoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in NCA Defensor Mercenario's zone, Sebastian Villa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Xavies Monterrey came out of the goal and Sebastian Villa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lautaro Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emiliano Arango, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 89th minute, Edmundo Espiga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute Emiliano Arango shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Emiliano Arango stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal and Emiliano Arango tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Honduras's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
