Luis Andino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dennis Berg read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Dennis Berg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. IFK Fölet's Dennis Berg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dennis Berg. IFK Fölet's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 17th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iwo Borcz, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 22 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rikard Göransson. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rikard Göransson's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dennis Berg was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. After 30 minutes IFK Fölet's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Through an outstanding action, after 32 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Dennis Berg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Iwo Borcz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iwo Borcz got free with Julio Vera in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 40 minutes, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustín Saelices was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 43rd play minutes Rikard Göransson shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Julio Vera and just under the crossbar into goal. IFK Fölet's Dennis Berg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 83th minute after IFK Fölet's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. In the 88th minute of the match IFK Fölet got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ove Mellberg ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 90th minute, Agustín Saelices got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, IFK Fölet's Dennis Berg got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than IFK Fölet throughout the match.
