Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Peru's attentive Alonso Berganza managed to snatch the ball when Carlos Galván made a throw-in in the 9th minute of the game. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Quiroga in the 14th minute of the match. In the 17th minute of the match Luz Tejedor sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Apostol Sokolov skillfully saved the ball. Apostol Sokolov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julian Murillo's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Fallabes came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Monitor Huáscar's goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Apostol Sokolov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudio Quiroga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Claudio Quiroga took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Rolando Noboa to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Monitor Huáscar's Gines Hubieta got a free kick in the 47th minute.

Monitor Huáscar's Apostol Sokolov proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Monitor Huáscar from getting a goal against them. Monitor Huáscar made a substitution. Nazario Arechavala replaced Johnny Nyström. Claudio Quiroga kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudio Quiroga in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 74th minute of play forced Monitor Huáscar's goalkeeper Apostol Sokolov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Peru booed when Monitor Huáscar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nazario Arechavala didn't get a good kick on the ball. Apostol Sokolov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 79th minute of the match. Apostol Sokolov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Emmanuel Reyes made in the 87th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Milagros Fraga. 90 minutes into the match, Monitor Huáscar's goalkeeper Apostol Sokolov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rafael Gallo. 91 minutes into the game, Claudio Quiroga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Monitor Huáscar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peru the free kick. After 91 played minutes Monitor Huáscar got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Quiroga. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rafael Gallo in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Apostol Sokolov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudio Quiroga, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Monitor Huáscar were victorious despite being under pressure from Peru for much of the match.
