Marcus Isaksson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A hard shot 19 in the game by Rodrigo Nestor from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. Jacek Zjawin charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jacek Zjawin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mehmet Akif Ersoy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodrigo Nestor could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 39 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mehmet Akif Ersoy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Rodrigo Nestor sent off a good shot on target. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Nicki Nick blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicki Nick in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. The corner led ZigZag Athletic's Bengt-Rune Öman to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 82ndth minute of the game Rodrigo Nestor who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jacek Zjawin got his second yellow card in the match during the 83rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 83rd minute, Jacek Zjawin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Mehmet Akif Ersoy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. 88 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Nestor came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ZigZag Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerry Hedman didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ZigZag Athletic fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
