The ball had pretty good speed, but Rolando Noboa firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bent Streyder to strike the kick off in the second half. Julian Murillos short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Tristan Nordlet to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Julian Murillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tristan Nordlet having to interfere. After having played for 58 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tristan Nordlet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Gallo in the 91st minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Rafael Gallo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tristan Nordlet, 1-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Magnus Steinwart in the 95th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
