In the 5th minute, Antonio Cempeners got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Blue Beast's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Eddy Huijgens quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 15th minute Andy Hendrickx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddy Huijgens having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, Andy Hendrickx recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Andy Hendrickx showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Blue Beast's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Eddy Huijgens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Blue Beast's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. If Alfons Wolfdoncx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomm Aelemans hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Blue Beast's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eddy Huijgens came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play forced Blue Beast's goalkeeper Eddy Huijgens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Blue Beast's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Eddy Huijgens quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antonio Cempeners got free with Julio Vera in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eddy Huijgens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Eddy Huijgens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Eddy Huijgens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Eddy Huijgens, 1-1. In the 61st minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Eddy Huijgens despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Blue Beast's Eddy Huijgens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Blue Beast from getting a goal against them. 73 minutes into the match, Blue Beast's goalkeeper Eddy Huijgens had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. 75 minutes into the game, Klaus Colebrants was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Blue Beast's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Blue Beast was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Klaus Colebrants didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 75th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Blue Beast. With a little luck, Blue Beast's Eddy Huijgens got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Agustín Saelices's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eddy Huijgens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Luis Andino notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Blue Beast's Eddy Huijgens. Eddy Huijgens was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 94 minutes, Antonio Cempeners managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blue Beast's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antonio Cempeners was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
