The audience was convinced that Sergiu Coșeriu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gaston Roderigo was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Academia Rio's Aron Suşu got a free kick in the 9th minute. Adrian Blănaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaston Roderigo having to interfere. After 16 played minutes América-SC F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Fellipe Travassos. In the 19th minute Academia Rio were awarded a corner. Dumitru Pantelimon went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 22nd minute, Sergiu Coșeriu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Rio fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Coșeriu in the 24th minute of play forced América-SC F.C.'s goalkeeper Gaston Roderigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Henrique in the 29th minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Aurelian Coporan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute Radu Păvăloae shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaston Roderigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Virgil Şimonca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gaston Roderigo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After 43 minutes, Cleithon Ortiz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the América-SC F.C. and the Academia Rio players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 44 played minutes América-SC F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Cleithon Ortiz. The supporters of Academia Rio booed when América-SC F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Secco didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in América-SC F.C.'s zone, Dumitru Pantelimon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaston Roderigo came out of the goal and Dumitru Pantelimon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gaston Roderigo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Virgil Şimonca went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sergiu Coșeriu to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fellipe Travassos in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aurelian Coporan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to América-SC F.C. getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Luiz Pitta hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radu Păvăloae in the 59th minute of play forced América-SC F.C.'s goalkeeper Gaston Roderigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Virgil Şimonca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gaston Roderigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sergiu Coșeriu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Sergiu Coșeriu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gaston Roderigo. That made the score 0-4 in the 70 minute of play. Gaston Roderigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radu Păvăloae, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Aurelian Coporan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Antunes in the 76th minute of play. Gaston Roderigo made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Sergiu Coșeriu sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Alex Nicolae hit a great ball. Paulo Antunes took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aurelian Coporan. Aurelian Coporan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. In the 83rd minute of the match, Radu Păvăloae tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gaston Roderigo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. América-SC F.C.'s Gaston Roderigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aron Suşu in the 85th minute of play. Paulo Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Aurelian Coporan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 97 played minutes Sergiu Coșeriu rounded América-SC F.C.'s defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-5. Academia Rio's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
