In the 8th minute, Isac Iorda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dinu Săvoiu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Seco's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Joaquin Gayoso successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Maximiliano Escribano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dinu Săvoiu having to make a save. Uruguay's defense didn't have a chance, in the 26th minute, when Edgar Onea scored to the left of an out of position Joaquin Gayoso, making the score, 1-0. Dinu Săvoiu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Seco's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Kevin Carballal lost his temper 64 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Uruguay:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of POLI TIMISOARA:s goal. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Călin Hulubei in the 71st minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, POLI TIMISOARA's goalkeeper Dinu Săvoiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Călin Hulubei during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Călin Hulubei in the 92nd minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Uruguay players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for POLI TIMISOARA.
