Ogden managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boca Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but J.C. Ogden was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Boca Juniors's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner ended in Felix Montenegro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Boca Juniors's Roman Rollins did a great save. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Jason Stuart hit a great ball. Roman Rollins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell J.C. Ogden to make the kick off. When Mitchell Street fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Roman Rollins. That made the score 0-3 after 63 minutes of play. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Boca Juniors's Cyryl Karpinski was substituted for J.C. Ogden. After having played for 71 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Daniel Zorita succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-6 in the 96th playminute. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Boca Juniors.
