Shymkent Camels's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zézinho Falcão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 12th minute of the match Shymkent Camels got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Christer Johnsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. Christer Johnsson made a great header on Shymkent Camels's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head.
