The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 27 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 36th minute of play forced SIDI's goalkeeper Inocencio Raulo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute, SIDI's Octavio Orlondo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Camilo Gaos during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Camilo Gaos hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Octavio Orlondo made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. The supporters of SIDI booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clodoveo Mogel was slow to take the kick. During this time SIDI's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Octavio Orlondo managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guido Lizer in the 66th minute of the match. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos got a free kick in the 70th minute. Octavio Orlondo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match.
