Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurel Panait, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 18th minute of play forced Stiinta-Univ.'s goalkeeper Martin Crețu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Okan Koc in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Stiinta-Univ.'s goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Martin Crețu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aurel Panait sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Stiinta-Univ. made a substitution. Șerban Rușanu replaced Virgil Oargă. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valeriu Morovan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Alonso Berganza. Benjamim Urbano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rolando Noboa. Peru's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valeriu Morovan in the 56th minute of play. Stiinta-Univ.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 67thth minute of the game Aurel Panait who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aurel Panait struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Rolando Noboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stiinta-Univ.. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Vágner Vargas, made in the 75th minute of the game. Shi Ming Sheng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Milagros Fraga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Martin Crețu made a huge save. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Valeriu Morovan went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Martin Crețu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliseo Mina in the 92nd minute of the match. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shi Ming Sheng, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. In the 96th of the match, Rafael Gallo tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Martin Crețu got in the way and made a wonderful save. Peru's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
