Emiliano Boni made in the 26th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Colombia's Antonio Indiano. In the 27th minute of the game Paolo Xabat made a throw-in which Grigoris Berzovitis played forward. 28 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Federico Insúa came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Federico Insúa made a kick off. Uwe Septinius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santino Seco in the 52nd minute of play. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Federico Insúa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norberto Acevedo in the 68th minute of the match.
