The supporters of Ecuador booed when INIXET BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peder Alström didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 15th minute of play forced INIXET BK's goalkeeper Kent Näver to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kent Näver showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 21st minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peder Alström in the 29th minute of play. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 45 minutes into the match, Carl Kalfhage had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carl Kalfhage was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 51st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Kent Näver could save by the left post. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute Carl Kalfhage shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peder Alström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peder Alström, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by INIXET BK's Oscar Hääger. But to his dismay, Oscar Hääger quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sören Gregersson in the 70th minute of play. Cristian Sancho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 73rdth minute, Kent Näver skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl-Magnus Bergman, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. After a rather tough play, INIXET BK's Hans Wallin got a free kick in the 79th minute. Kent Näver made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing INIXET BK to leave the ground with a draw.
