Jacob May fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geronimo Rulli having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Internacional's Benet Rano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marco Day. That made the score 1-0 after 9 minutes of play. In the 22nd minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geronimo Rulli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Internacional's goal looked a bit too open when Cassius Byrne came free, but Geronimo Rulli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geronimo Rulli came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by USA's Cassius Byrne. But to his dismay, Cassius Byrne quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Ege Deniz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Marco Day made a huge save. With a little luck, USA's Marco Day got control of the ball when Benet Rano tried to sneak it across the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Internacional's goal looked a bit too open when Monty Rogers came free, but Geronimo Rulli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd match minute, USA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edward Mcdonald to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th match minute, Internacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Laudrup to maneuver through the defense. Geronimo Rulli didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Monty Rogers went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Evaristo Costa made a kick off. Marco Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evaristo Costa in the 53rd minute of play. In the 54th minute of the match, Monty Rogers tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Geronimo Rulli saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. USA's Zach Harrison was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Geronimo Rulli in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Cassius Byrne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 62 minutes into the game, Internacional's Benet Rano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marco Day made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Geronimo Rulli was a little too slow when Jenson Smith got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 2-3. A collision led to USA getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Fabian Brown hit a great ball. USA's Sam Campbell was substituted for Cassius Byrne. The USA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marco Day should have stopped the shot. Internacional's Rafael Abarca was substituted for Israel Aballe. Internacional made a substitution. In the 81st minute, Jenson Smith got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Geronimo Rulli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Baker, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Geronimo Rulli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Khalid Parry in the 86th minute of play. Internacional's Geronimo Rulli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Khalid Parry in the 86th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Internacional's goal looked a bit too open when Khalid Parry came free, but Geronimo Rulli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute Khalid Parry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geronimo Rulli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 92nd minute USA were awarded a corner. Jenson Smith went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Raphael Moore heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Benet Rano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Marco Day tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
