Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 23rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cauã Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, SANTOS F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Cauã Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cauã Domingues. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Cauã Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play. Cauã Domingues didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet as Gustavo Vinhas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 3-1 in the 30 minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cauã Domingues having to interfere. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Durvalino Soeiro in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 37th minute of play forced SANTOS F.C's goalkeeper Cauã Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abel Neto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to SANTOS F.C getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Dalmo Cerezo hit a great ball. In the 40th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cauã Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Durvalino Soeiro's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 44thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cauã Domingues having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Durvalino Soeiro made the kick off in the second half. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 53rd minute. Daniel Zorita made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 59thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Cauã Domingues would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. 63 minutes into the match, SANTOS F.C's goalkeeper Cauã Domingues had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Durvalino Soeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Durvalino Soeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 66th match minute, SANTOS F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teodoro Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. SANTOS F.C's Cauã Domingues proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save SANTOS F.C from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cauã Domingues breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cauã Domingues made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SANTOS F.C's Cauã Domingues did a great save. Cauã Domingues made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute. 87 minutes into the match, SANTOS F.C's goalkeeper Cauã Domingues had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. Cauã Domingues was a little too slow when Cristian Sancho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 3-2. In the 95th minute, Durvalino Soeiro made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. The SANTOS F.C support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
